Mexican WarWar of 1812

The Civil War affected everyone in Missouri regardless of what side of the conflict they supported. However, little comprehensive data exist regarding events in the lives of individuals beyond Military Records, scattered newspapers, and in some cased, records found at courthouses. Because there is no central source for this research, and many newspapers only identify individuals by first name and rank or title (Mr., Mrs., etc.), it is hard to know just who they are referring to. Since all the enrollment records have been organized into Regiments and Companies and a volume of the state officers is now available, it is possible to transcribe the existing newspapers and insert the missing first names or initials for the articles and flesh them out, so they will be of benefit to researchers. Some articles included were actually published after the Civil War but contain information of those who were involved in the conflict. Material for this series came from many newspapers and copy written articles from papers no longer in existence. All books are compiled 8.5x11" format in soft cover.

Series consolidated index books. Individual volume indexes do contained additional clues to identify the county and, if applicable, military service of those involved.

While this series opens up all the early Missouri newspapers for this time period by fleshing out the events which shaped the lives and actions of this important time in our great nation the new indexes make reference even easier. It presents, in a legible format, many forgotten articles that most genealogists and historians are unaware of or where to locate the information - if known. Many variations in spelling names were noted during transcription, plus extensive use of initials that often makes identification difficult - also due to legibility of some articles. The consolidated index books attempt to utilize first names, whenever possible, by the use of the complete record and other information to help correctly identify the participants described in the articles for those doing research. Organized in 2 columns by surname then indicated name with volume and page number.
