many corrections to spelling and abbreviations: 23,503 names in alphabetical and
age index order. Although translations of this census can be found on the
internet, an error rate as high as 20-30% was found in some townships, such as 9
Mile. The original material condition of this census is generally very poor, due
to fading and tears of some pages. Copuled with the fact that some enumerators
often spelled the same surnames different on the same page and each enumerator
often utilized their own interpretations on how a name should be written which
combined with the unique penmanship practiced by each entrant made these errors
unavoidable. Tee author has tried to correct spellings and enclose the
errors in parenthesis in this book. The book is arranged in columns for fast
researching: Surname, first name or initial, age, and page of where the data can
be found in the original document.
