Ottawa County, Oklahoma Families Volume II Press Release

Two local authors are in the process of completing the second book of a series dealing with Ottawa County, Oklahoma.  Carrie Ann Cook, rural Fairland and Fredrea Gregath Cook, Miami, are collaborating in the project, entitled Ottawa County Families.  Both women are published authors and teachers, as well as locally and nationally known in the fields of genealogy and history.

The Ottawa County Families series of books deal with folks who have lived in the county.  The book touches on various historical aspects of the area, through the telling of family stories.  A variety of family information, from around the county, as well as some Native American tribal listings are included in the upcoming release.  The reader will also enjoy a sampling of first-hand interviews from some residents living during the Indian Pioneer History project of the Works Projects Administration.  This WPA project is part of the massive accumulation of documents, records, manuscripts and photographs of Oklahoma history, that help make up the Oklahoma History Center, in Oklahoma City.

The first volume of Ottawa County Families was released in hardbound edition in late 2002.  The second volume is currently scheduled for release in early December and will also be in a hardbound edition.   Research has already begun and information is being compiled for the third volume of the series.

More information about the Ottawa County Families series of books may be obtained from either author by calling 918-542-4148 or visiting www.gregathcompany.com/ottco.
