Glossary
Tear Sheet: Loose page from a book.
Also: photocopy of article that appears in print. Term originated when
actual publications were torn apart to send pages and articles to authors or as
marketing before modern copy machines made this not necessary.

Traditionally, tear sheets are printed pages that were set up
"waste" of first rate book printing.
Availability was generally limited to waste that was good enough to use in
marketing. Tear sheets are actual book pages, and are a great way to allow book
buyers to "get a taste" of your work. With digital printing, and the elimination
of traditional "make ready" waste, digital tear sheets are generally purpose
printed.
Digital is a greener
alternative to high quality published books, as the industry waste standard is
10%. Traditional tear sheets may be available with offset books, free of charge.
Digitally, choose your pages and quantities - they will all be first rate
printed pages. One and two sided sheets are available. Use a one sided sheet as
paper to send promotional letters on - turn a tear sheet into a
sales sheet.
Customers printing 100 books+
can buy these in any quantity at 50% off their cost of book printing.
Not printing 100 books? Inquire about current fees.
Flat printed on one or two sides,
8½x11" (or your book size) on book paper.
