Biography
I am a native Oklahoman, born in the capital of
the Cherokee Nation. Living in the Creek Nation all my life, except
for three years in Washington D.C. while my husband was stationed there
in the military. My two daughters were born one in Virginia and one
Washington D.C.
A history major, I have attended University of
Oklahoma, Tulsa University and University of Arkansas. My first and
primary interest is the War Between the States, or whichever name you prefer to call
it. To me it is purely and simply "The War". I was aware of two of
my great grandfathers, one on each side, serving in The War before I was
six years old. Maybe for that reason it has never seemed like "a long
time ago" to me, but always relevant to my being. From history, I
developed a strong interest in family history, and what my family was
doing during different historical periods of our great country.
I belong to a number if historical and lineage
organizations: Daughters of Founders and Patriots, Jamestown Society,
United States Daughters of 1812. United Daughters of the Confederacy,
Daughters of Union Veterans, Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century,
Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Daughter of American
Colonist, Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Continental Society
Daughters of Indian Wars, First Families of the Twin Territories,
etc.

War Between the States Confederate Military Records
Putting meat on the bones of your ancestor who
served during The War - not just name, rank and service. Where to find
their records, search them, and glean information briefly mentioned in
the sparse records in court houses, archives, and depositories.
