Press Release
Spending time making friends and
getting ideas to excel in research is a part of Genealogy in the Woods
2007. The idea of a weekend
away from everything, concentrating on your favorite hobby while
enjoying an "old school" camp atmosphere appeals to many people. The
Gregath Publishing Company is pleased to present it's third genealogy
and history retreat October 19-21, 2007 at Sky Ranch in Rural northeast
Oklahoma.
Scrapbook hobbyists may
begin Friday morning for a full day of scrapbook instruction from award-winning scrapbook builders that are
based in genealogical and historical research and preservation. Those who
prefer only scrapbook instruction may reserve space in the special
Friday Scrapper program. Friday will be devoted to scrapbooking and associated skills, presented by award-winning scrapbookers, Shirley Ratliff and Luretta Williams.
The all-inclusive experience
actually begins Friday afternoon with check in and two hands-on scrapbooking
sessions and forum before dinner, entertainment and the first formal,
scheduled genealogy topic. Overnight accommodations are provided on-site
in suites that will host four researchers each. All meals are
provided, as well as snacks, beverages, goodie bags and door prizes.
In addition to the scrapbook
workshops, weekend speakers and topics
include Genealogical Proof Standard, Randy Scott; Genetic Genealogy
(DNA), Sherrell Buchanan; American Migration Patterns - Waterway
Routes, Steve King; Layered History, Sharolyn and Patrick McCoy;
Document Analysis, Randy and Karen Scott; Wrangling Your Computer from
Organization to Immunization, Debbie Sumner; Vitals of Vital Statistics,
Karen Scott; Using eBay to Increase Your Research Library and Power Up
with PowerPoint presented by national speaker Carrie Cook. These informative sessions will touch on extra genealogical and historical topics.
Attendees
will enjoy the opportunity
to learn more about genealogical and historical topics in this relaxed
and beautiful backwoods setting. They will also find many networking
opportunities as well as time to kick back and enjoy a weekend full of
fun.
Registration, due by October 1,
2007, starts at $25.00 for Friday Scrappers. Several other packages
including an all inclusive (Friday afternoon-Sunday morning)
registration weekend for only $175.00 per person (six per suite occupancy).
