Mary Clement Douglass,
Certified Genealogist

Mary Clement Douglass, Certified Genealogist and SpeakerMrs. Douglass is an historian with over 30 years experience writing and lecturing. She graduated from Central State University, Edmond, OK with a degree in social studies education. She specializes in education of genealogists as well as Kansas research. Mary lectures nationally on genealogical and historical topics.

Mary served the Genealogical Speakers Guild as director and 2003 conference booth chair. She is co-founder of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) Heartland Chapter, has been elected to the APG Board of Directors (term: 2004-2005), and is the Web site administrator for APG-Town Hall.

A family historian since 1972, Mary served on the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society's board 1982-2000 as program chair, editor, vice-president, archivist, museum liaison, and instructor. Mrs. Douglass served as area representative and treasurer of the Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies (KCGS) board. She is a frequent speaker for the KCGS annual meeting.

She is past regent and registrar for Mary Wade Strother chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and registrar of Walden Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. She established lineages for US Daughters of the War of 1812 and Daughters of American Colonists.

Mary served the Salina Heritage Commission as Architectural Historian 1984-1986, researching and writing building histories, including successful National Register of Historic Places nominations. Mrs. Douglass served on the Salina Heritage Commission 1998-2006, several years as chair.

From 1986-1997, she was Curator of Collections of the Smoky Hill Museum, Salina, KS, accredited by the American Association of Museums. Mary is a graduate of the University of Texas Winedale Seminar in Historic Administration. She continues her involvement with museums as a surveyor/peer counselor for the American Association of Museums' Museum Assessment Program. She is also a Heritage Preservation consultant for the Kansas Humanities Council.

Mrs. Douglass is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America.

Fredrea Gregath Cook

Fredrea Gregath Cook, President of The Gregath Publishing Company, is the third generation in her family involved in both genealogical and historical research, writing, teaching, lecturing, and touring, as well as the printing and publishing industry.  She is a published author of genealogical and historical material, including college level textbooks and has developed and taught genealogical research and writing courses of study at colleges and universities.  Fredrea has been lecturing for over 40 years.  She is active in numerous genealogical, historical, patriotic, lineal and professional organizations, as well as local community groups.

Carrie Ann Cook

Carrie Ann Cook, National Genealogy SpeakerCarrie Ann Cook is a published author, illustrator and free-lance photographer. She holds an AA and BS in Elementary Education. Having certified for teaching in several states, she has taught elementary grades as well as genealogy, writing and computer classes at the Northeast Technology Center, Afton, Oklahoma. She has also served the Miami (Oklahoma) Public Library as Genealogy and Local History Specialist.  Currently, she is the Vice President of the Gregath Publishing Company and Webmaster to assorted sites. Carrie has been active in various service and lineal organizations throughout the years.  At age 37, she has been public speaking on genealogical and historical topics for nearly two decades.  A life long learner, she enjoys new insights offered while attending educational opportunities such as Historical Preservation Conferences, NIGR, and most recently, the Federation of Genealogical Societies Library Day in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 2007.

FGS 2008 attendees may attend a lecture presented by Carrie Cook in Philadelphia, PA: PowerPoint - Take the Plunge. Also, a GSG sponsored lecture: Dress for Success & Your Audience, Saturday, September 6, 2008.
