Genealogy in the Woods 2013
Sky Ranch at Cave Springs Ranch House
October 26-27, 2013
Same Venue as 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2011!

Retreat
Canceled

Cave Springs/Sky Ranch Website

Unfortunately, after booking to near capacity, Sky Ranch at Cave Springs informed us our ranch house availability was reduced by at least 5 hours, due to a new group's needs. This was unforeseen as our 2013 schedule mirrored 2011, and the completed SRCS contract did not address timeframe. While still welcome on this Christian campus, alternatives would have drastically reduced the retreat experience.

We are sorry to announce that have found no comparable alternative and have canceled. We thank Julie McClain, Guest Services Specialist and Doug McClain, Camp Director for their efforts of August 28, 2013.

We have enjoyed our relationship with Cave Springs, since 2003, and everyone seems to have a wonderful time there. We wish all those attending SRCS during our originally scheduled dates the best.

Same Venue as 2003, 2005, 2007: Back to the Ranch House as in 2011!

Approximately 4 miles off of Highway 10 in northeast Oklahoma lies this wonderful campus.  When leaving the Highway, drivers will enjoy fully paved blacktop road before leaving "civilization" behind, using the creek gate to Cave Springs grounds. We'll be at the ranch house, so no worries about other graveled campus drives.

From Tulsa, Oklahoma Airport From Miami From Joplin, Missouri Airport

Location Map of Sky Ranch at Cave Springs

From Tulsa Airport:

From the gates/parking: at the first stoplight, turn right (south) under the overpass and take the left (east) onramp.  This is the Gilcrease Expressway (Highway 11), that feeds into I-244.  Follow the "to Joplin" signs.  I-244 merges with I-44 where you will continue on I-44 by getting on the Will Rogers Turnpike (I-44).  Proceed up the turnpike and take the Miami exit.  Once through the toll booth, the road feeds into a stoplight.  Turn to the right (east) and you will be on Highway 10.  See below from Miami for further details.Map

From Miami:

Early Warning - On Highway 10, approximately 1 mile from the turn (from either direction) there is a Sky Ranch sign stating the turn off is in a mile.

Proceed out of Miami east on Highway 10 approximately 6 miles (beyond the construction zone, but before Highway 10C junction) until you see the Sky Ranch at Cave Springs sign on the left (north) side of the highway (County Road 650).  Take County Road 650 approximately 4 miles.  It will take you over the creek and in view of the "swimmin hole" and some campus facilities, shortly after the bridge, the creek/main entrance gate is on the right (east) - this is the entrance we will use.

Highway turn off to Sky Ranch at Cave Springs from an west
General view of turn off arriving from Miami (the west). Note the 7-Up sign is no more, but there is an "antiques" sign.

Think you still might have trouble spotting the Sky Ranch Sign off the highway?

Due to tree growth, it can still be hard to see in the fall.  Watch for the antique sign opposite (on the South side of the highway). In the past, there was a 7-Up sign (see photo above) as well.  Now, go to the East or West approach picture and you'll see where it might be easier to spot for the first time than the camp sign.

Once this turn is made, follow the road through the campus gates, to the ranch house (second house) with concourse.  For easy unload and parking, take the right branch and to pull down in front of the house. Unload and then follow pavement to the parking area.

From Joplin Airport (see above for maps and more photos):

Turn right (west) out of the airport  and proceed to first stoplight where you will turn left (south) onto Highway 43 (Joplin Main Street).  Proceed through town and take I-44/Highway 43 (to Tulsa).

At this point you can either continue on to Miami, I-44 turns into the Will Rogers Turnpike, or follow the directions below:

Take the exit 4 (Highway 43 to Seneca).  At the light at the top of the off ramp, turn left (south) and proceed down Highway 43.  Turn right (west) at junction U - Highways 43 & 10C - proceeding west down Highway 10C.  Continue Highway turn off to Sky Ranch at Cave Springs from an east approach.(past the 10C Junction, but before the Spring River bridge) until you see the Sky Ranch at Cave Springs sign on the left (north) side of the highway (County Road 650).  (See above for more photographs)
