Autobiography

Fredrea Gregath Cook attended Northeastern State Teachers College (currently Northeastern State University), Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Miami, Oklahoma.  She is a published author of genealogical and historical material, including college level textbooks.

Fredrea has developed and taught genealogical research and writing courses of study at colleges and universities and is one of Gregath Co.'s speakers. Her love of history has provided unique perspective in the family publishing business.  Fredrea is busier than ever with historical projects, upon her 2010 retirement from Gregath Company.

Mrs. Cook is the third generation to have been involved in both genealogical and historical research, writing, teaching, lecturing, and touring, as well as the printing and publishing industry.  She is active in numerous patriotic and lineal organizations, as well as local community groups.  A small sampling of her organizational membership include the Genealogical Speakers Guild, National Genealogical Society, Association of Professional Genealogists, and the Ottawa County Genealogical Society.  For a larger listing of her memberships and activities, click here. In 2008, she was elected to her first two year term on Director of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, she is currently completing her second term.

Alternate Evidence

Using the Indian Pioneer History Collection

A valuable secondary source for history was produced in Oklahoma as a Works Progress Administration [WPA] project. This wonderful body of work has a full, free, online index and is, at least partially available in a few places - freely - online. This presentation will deal with the data, how to access it in Oklahoma repositories, as well as online, and offer examples of the treasure.
