Mr. John P. Sample has been a member of the faculty at Rogers University at Claremore since 1982.  He received a B. A. E. from Wichita State University and a M. S. from Northeastern State University, with additional Graduate courses from Wichita State and the American Military University.

Mr. Sample is a former Army officer, with service as an Infantry and Counterintelligence advisor with South Vietnamese troops in the field and as a counterintelligence operative and member of the General Staff of the United States Army South in Latin America.  After leaving the Army, he joined the international Division of the Coleman Company, where he acted as the Sales Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean.  He is also a War Between the States re-enactor, currently serving as the Second-in-Command of the Second Battalion of the Frontier Brigade (which is comprised of units from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, 

While at Rogers University, Mr. Sample has taught History, English, and Spanish.  He had helped develop a telecourse for English Composition I, and has developed a U. S. History to 1865 course, which he is offering over the Internet.  He has also developed an upper division course on the War Between the States.  He is a much requested speaker throughout the area on various subjects, mot notably the War Between the States.  In addition, he has served several terms as a member of the Faculty Senate, of which he is currently Vice Chair, and is the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.
