Cover Plate (Artwork Engraving): A product necessary for the inclusion of special artwork such as drawings, coats of arms, borders, etc. on the front cover of a hardbound book. Also, this option is more economical than per line imprint for multi-line impressions and/or large orders.

An index adds two valuable things to any book. The index makes the book easier to use and adds to its marketability.  Almost everyone has their own idea what a complete index is.  We suggest at least a complete surname index for genealogical books.  Content and format is up to you!

We usually recommend the use of a typeset title page for all books, as it adds to the pleasing appearance of any book. A title page may contain a photo or artwork, if you wish. We do, however, occasionally have a customer that specifies the use of his own title page, which is fine.

If you have a family story stating you are related to a certain person (Daniel Boon, Thomas Jefferson, King Henry VIII, etc.). but have not been able to get your research back in time past a certain ancestor, don't fall into the "missing link" trap.  Many genealogists, especially those who have taken up research without any training or guidance will simply skip this lost ancestor and pick up research with who they "are sure" is this ancestor's parents.  People have done untold research on other people's families in this manner - not their own.  While it is tempting to try and "reverse engineer" the pedigree in this manner, it rarely works.

Though give-aways, sweepstakes, and surveys can be tempting, many are set up to "harvest" email addresses that are provided.  These can be used for the company you participated with or sold to others.  Best bet, if you wish to participate in these, sign up for a free email address (hotmail, yahoo, bolt, etc.) that you use for this type of thing only.  When you get too high a volume of junk mail, close the account and open a new one (different email address).
