Gregath Publishing e-zine Please note that while an effort to generalize much of this text has been made, some references to "we, our, etc." still occur and much of the information provided applies to The Gregath Publishing Company and may not with other printer/publishers. ALWAYS double check with your printer/publisher on every detail. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Table of Contents What's It
Mean? -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Bleed: A printed image that extends beyond the trim edge of a sheet of paper. *Blueline: For Gregath use, see ARC. Below is a definition from "The What Shall I Write Handbook", Corrine Russell, 1992, that is a good addition to our ARC entry: "Bluelines are page proofs. They represent your last chance to review copy looking for errors. Depending on the printing process your printer uses, bluelines may be expensive to produce, and many printers will not provide them unless you request them. If printers do provide them, they may be expensive, so ask first. Bluelines may be a good idea if you have a lot of photographs, for bluelines present your only opportunity to see photographs in place. Check them carefully. Make sure they are in the correct position, and that they are not upside down or turned backward. Because bluelines are so expensive to produce, now is the time to start editing and proofreading. Unless they are printer's errors, changes made at this point cost you dearly." Book Block: Endpapers, text block and all other materials before hard or soft binding. * refers to a term not actively used at Gregath Publishing -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- ///////////////////////////////
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- /////////////////////////////// There are several popular ways to mark your printed photographs for custom cropping. Below are a few:

While this is a subscription program, many libraries with strong genealogy programs allow access on site, and some do from your home. More about PERSI from the Allen County Public Library (http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/genealogy/persi.html): "The Periodical Source Index, or PERSI, is the largest
subject index to genealogical and historical periodical articles in the world.
Created by the foundation and department staff of the Genealogy Center of the
library here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, PERSI is widely recognized as being a vital
source for genealogical researchers. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- /////////////////////////////// Always having trouble with your computer? Have you checked to see if there is a computer support group you can join locally? Our society has lots of different groups for lots of different interests and to solve problems. If there is not one in your area, look at banding together friends and family who have difficulties and successes. Not everyone will have the same problems, or the same successes. While you may always be asking your group questions, you might find yourself the "go to" person for general problems in a program you always work in. "It takes a village..." -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- /////////////////////////////// The Gregath Publishing Company is pleased to present information that may be of help to authors and genealogists on a monthly basis in this format.
