Anyone may procure their own ISBN, but many are hesitant to learn another new process. Gregath offers assistance in many ways.

If ISBN has already been acquired, Gregath can take the publication, ISBN and user information and handle all the data entry for books in print and keeping up your ISBN registration. Services average $25.00 per single ISBN. If several need to be done at the same time, straight time can be utilized at $20.00/hour.

This service is offered without the requirement that the ISBN be listed for sale in the Gregath catalog. However, if it is genealogy or history, we highly suggest taking advantage of this free service - use the ISBN contract. Gregath can also help acquire ISBN.

The normal procedure for general manuscript preparation is as follows:

  1. Material arrives with instructions and retainer at GCI

  2. Instructions are followed to produce manuscript pages or sections

  3. GCI produced material is sent to author for proof reading, correction, additions, etc. - generally in small batches, unless otherwise instructed (format varies)

  4. Proofed material is then returned to us, in order that any changes can be made These annotated pages can be considered approved by the author.

  5. If any errors were made at Gregath, these are corrected free of charge.

  6. Should the author alter the work, GCI will make all authorized changes though there is an additional fee for rewriting.

  7. Additional digital author return/approval may be made at this time for no additional charge, or further steps as deemed necessary by customer or publisher. (return to step 3 and repeat)

  8. Finalized work and payment completed - material delivered in requested format, or used for publication.

Gregath can take as much or as little of the load as the customer has budget for. Generally speaking, order fulfillment can be tailored to a given need. A light service package example: excel sheet of individual customers is provided for a "blast" (all books shipped at the same time) shipping through USPS Priority (tracked) mail from $6.00 to $12.00 per address - including actual shipping costs. Customer defined packages will be quoted, but basic per address service fee may be as low as $1.00 per mailed item. Gregath can warehouse all stock, take orders, ship, etc. but this type of service is ongoing, thus the charges are as well.

*Editor's note - there are lots of options to hiring out this part of the self-published author's needs. For lower cost alternatives you may wish to check with local organizations that are fund raising. Just remember that today's customers may by tomorrow's book. Records need to also be kept well for books that don't arrive or are damaged, etc.

Everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that a pdf of our 2008 publication Forgotten
Patriots: African American and American Indian Patriots in the
Revolutionary War and a new supplement covering additions, corrections,
and much more bibliographic information are both now available at the
link below for free access and downloading. The printed copies of the
2008 book sold out the middle of 2011, and we decided that we would
prefer to make the publication available online for anyone interested at
no cost. I've already started another supplement for 2012 onwards as our
research in this subject area continues and as we watch for new
publications, articles, dissertations, etc.

If shipping and receiving by more than one carrier, consider using a single program for tracking. We discovered http://www.usetrackthis.com/ in 2011. Just cut and paste your tracking numbers, select the shipping service and how you want to be notified. Seems simple and you can't beat the cost (free).
