Camera Ready (hard copy) Manuscript (mssc or CRM): Basically "what you see is what you get", printed on one side of the paper, it includes text, artwork, documents, and spaces for photos. Any blemishes, coffee stains, or copy machine "splatter" on the original will be on the final copy (finished books). Please note that all forms of reproduction from this manuscript will loose some clarity.

Check-in (pre-press): Procedure all manuscripts go through when they are received for printing (optional for companion program) - photo pages, pagination confirmed, margins spot checked - includes general inspection for any unforeseen factors that would affect cost or quality of book.

If you plan a virtual tour, don't forget to market it! Just like having a book store signing, it can't be a success if people don't know it's happening. Please, plan to do something different with every stop - even if it is just shifting the focus of Q&A topics (one stop, research, another history, another writing, another family, another future work, etc.). If visitors find themselves presented with the same things, they will be more hesitant to follow you.

Still thinking in black and white? The days of green and amber monitors are well past, as is unaffordable color computer copies. We live in a color world and while you may not be able to afford a full color printed book, consider using color in your sales items. Always check the price difference between color and black and white (from letterhead and envelopes to flyer and bookmarks) - the margin of savings may not equal the value loss.
