*Dead copy: Any previous drafts or copies that have been discarded once proof read and any changes have been completed. All drafts should be dated (easiest), marked or coded so the writer can be sure of working on the "current" and be able to see their progress in the older ones.
Desktop publishing: The use of a personal computer to bring together text and other elements (photos, graphics, etc.) into a camera-ready manuscript without using other resources (typesetter, paste-up, etc.

If you choose to add color to the inerior of your book - think beyond the color photo that must be in color: Choose other things on the page to produce in color - what about a color watermark?

If you have selected your publisher before finalizing your color manuscript, ask how they charge color: Does it all have to be charged as color, just the two page spread (front and back of sheet), just the individual pages, will grouping your color help, etc. Then take this information into account when placing your color for an economical advantage.

Consider setting your sales price in such a way that you can offer occasional discounts: Pre-publication, birthdays/anniversaries, special events such as reunions, etc.
