Our Cherokee ancestor, Gardner Green, was listed on the 1835 Census of Cherokee Within the Limits of Georgia, as living on Will Arnold Creek, "Three fullbloods. One farmer. One reader of English and two of Cherokee. One weaver and one spinner."...
Most of our Green descendants applications were "rejected", which does not mean they were not of Cherokee blood, but that they were not affiliated with recognized tribal settlement...

...Our Native American Green family found themselves in the predicament of white encroachment on their southwest Virginia (VA) lands and in 1761 had moved to western North Carolina. By 1789 they had moved to the area of the Georgia (GA) and East Tennessee (TN) border. The family, along with many of their friends moved to Henry County, Kentucky (KY), before 1800.
