Press Area Carrie Ann Cook To Speak at FGS 2007 Carrie Ann Cook, Fairland, Oklahoma, has accepted invitations of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the Genealogical Speakers Guild to conduct classes in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this summer. She will present five lectures at the conference sponsored by the Federation of Genealogical Societies and the Allen County Public Library. Entitled “A Meeting at the Crossroads of America”, this prestigious event is expected to attract experienced professionals, family historians and amateur hobbyists, from around the world. She will be presenting various topics in the Society Management, Preservation and Photography, Writing and Publishing, and Public Speaking tracks of the conference. Carrie will also take part in the ProQuest/Heritage Quest Librarian’s Day activities, during the event. Miss Cook holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Education from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Miami, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. A graduate of the National Archives’ National Institute on Genealogical Research, Washington, D.C., she has taught Genealogy, Writing and Computer courses at Northeast Technology Center in Afton, Oklahoma and lectured extensively. A published author of several genealogical and educational works, she has also provided many of her own illustrations and is a professional photographer. The fourth generation of the family directly involved in the Gregath Publishing Company, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, she serves as company Vice President. Additionally, she is in demand for various genealogical, historical, writing and computer programs, from small meeting talks to lectures in the classroom. Bringing her experience and outlook to the company’s website and conducting genealogical tours, as well as planning the company’s annual genealogical event, are a few of her special business interests. She maintains membership in various lineal organizations and is active in many different projects. Carrie is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Genealogical Speakers Guild, Federation of Genealogical Societies, National Genealogical Society and Mid-America Speakers, to name a few. Some of her ongoing book projects center on, family history, preservation, and rediscovery of historical, events and places. Click here for current biographical information.
