Autobiography

I have been writing the genealogy column for the Joplin Globe since 1999. During that time I have written over 200 columns about various aspects of family history research.

I have been doing family history research for about 20 years, and I have published two books:   "Maria Carlin and Her Historic Gifford and Waldo Ancestors of Harrison County, Virginia (now WV)" and "Family History of John Carlin Sr. and His Wife Catherine Read of Barbour (Formerly Harrison) County, West Virginia."

In my spare time,  I am finishing a book on my Quick ancestry, a book on my Haddock ancestry, a book on my Parmley ancestry, and a book on my Chancel ancestry.  Another book is about my experiences growing up on Carlin Ridge in eastern McDonald County, Missouri.

I have a bachelor of science degree and a master's degree in Biology and Education.  I taught high school biology for 28 years.

Jim and I live in Joplin, Missouri.
