Beginners Session 
2-4 PM
Volunteers from Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars/Gregath Staff

Focus on this session will revolve around record keeping and forms as well as using living family members as a starting point.  Discussion of where to find general documentation and basic, overall, research methods covered.  If  time permits, we will begin a discussion of some basic special concerns of researching Indian ancestors.

Tribal Representatives

All local Tribes/Nations, as well as the Five Civilized Tribes, have been invited to participate and several have already confirmed:

  • Miami

  • Modoc

  • Ottawa

  • Peoria

  • Seneca-Cayuga

  • Wyandotte

Each Tribe represented will give a brief history of their Tribe after which the floor will be open for questions.

NOTE: This is a general historical and genealogical discussion.  The focus is on finding and researching previously proven/recognized Native ancestors.  The goal is not to provide specific information on how to become a new member of these  Tribes/Nations.
