West
Tulsa Oklahoma 1939 Before and After The Greatest Little American Town That Once Was, by Cecil Gomez, 2008.
8.5x11", color softbound book, 358 pages, ISBN
978-0-944619-90-2.
A narrative of West Tulsa history written in first person dialogue, is rooted in
true facts and true stories bridged over with limited fiction, avoiding the
topic breaks of an anthology. This approach was utilized in order to maintain
the characteristics of a flowing historical novel, yet remain inclusive with
historical documentation. In some instances, certain aspects have been altered,
but only to include additional historic aspects of the subject. The book
primarily covers the perimeters of West Tulsa proper...meaning only the
community west and south of the Arkansas River to 25th Street, but including
Midco Road. The communities of Red Fork, Carbondale, Garden City, Oakhurst, and
Berryhill, are of limited emphasis, but because those communities have
historical significance of their own apart from old West Tulsa town.
